English in my life

Learning foreign languages is not an easy thing, specially if you know multiple languages. I myself know four languages. It is a long and slow process that takes a lot of time. But to know English today is necessary for every educated person, every good specialist.

English is a world language. It is one of the richest languages. There many borrowings from English in other languages. It is the language of progressive science and technology. It is aviation, shipping and sports. But English is and always has been constantly changing.

The rise of English is a story of wonderful success. Two thousand years ago English did not exist. Five hundred years later English was already spoken by the people from Great Britain but they were not many. Geographically, it is the most widespread language on earth now. English is the official language of the UK, of the USA, of Australia and New Zealand (to my knowledge).

Millions of people study English as a foreign language. In my country English is spoken by every citizen. It is studied at schools, colleges and universities etc.

I began learning English 11 years ago, and now it is my dominant language. I think it is very interesting to learn foreign languages. But I want to know English because it’s one of the logical languages there is, and that I want to use it in my future job.

I think it is very important to know English now.

Freedom related questions

What is freedom? Freedom is the power to say, act, think and do as I please.

How important is freedom? It makes ur who we are is in what we do, say or act.

Would you fight for your freedom? Yes, I would just because it makes me independent.

Is working 40 hours a week closer to freedom or slavery? In my opinion, its freedom, because someone chooses to get a job where they are required to work 40+ hours a week.

How does freedom feel like? It’s like being strong and controlling. And in a way, it feels like I’m the one in control of my life.

Do you agree we must be free to bear arms (have a gun)? Yes, because if terrorists really want one, they will get it. But if someone has a weapon on him in a critical moment, it may save the lives of hundreds.

What kind of stories do you hear in the news related to freedom? Mostly bad ones, of how people find loopholes everywhere. There are good stories too, but they get covered up by the bad.

Do you think many people misunderstand the meaning of freedom? Not really, most of the people know their rules and are pretty happy with them.

The philosopher Rousseau said, “Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains”. What do you think of this saying? I myself think it’s true, our freedom is fading away. more rules are being made than being dismissed.

The guy who tried to cross the English Channel.

A French inventor failed in his attempt to cross the English Channel on a jet-powered hoverboard on Thursday when he was knocked into the water as he landed on a boat-mounted refueling platform, his technical team said.
Franky Zapata took off from Sangatte, France, at 07.06 GMT with 42 liters of kerosene in his backpack, enough for about 10 minutes of flight. He planned to strap on a new backpack on a vessel waiting midway across the 35-km wide Straits of Dover. Flying at up to 140 kph at an altitude of between 15 to 20 meters, he had hoped to reach to Dover in about 20 minutes.

Zapata was making his attempt on the 110th anniversary of the first powered flight between Britain and France. Crew member Stephane Denis told BBC World that it was a huge disappointment.
She explained that Zapata made his rendezvous with the refueling boat, but crashed into its flagpole, skid across the deck and fell overboard. “He had practiced the maneuver several times before without problems, but now, at the most important moment, it failed. Today was the 110th anniversary of Bleriot’s flight. It would have been a poignant moment,” Denis said. She added that with the landing platform two meters above the deck, every movement of the ship on the waves was exaggerated, making his decent extremely difficult.

Zapata had received a 1.3 million euro grant from the French army in late 2018 to help finance the development of the hoverboard, which is powered by five small jet engines. He had wowed crowds during France’s July 14 Bastille Day celebrations, flying over a military parade on Paris’ Place de la Concorde watched by French President Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Denis confirmed that Zapata was unharmed and was already planning a new attempt next month.
